Default Hello World! I'm a new SEO addition to PAS. Ask me things!

    Hello all,

I'm a new SEO guy here at PAS, and I'd like to say hello. I'll be releasing SEO articles that are are specific to the poker affiliate space over the next few weeks: look for them in the PAS blog and/or follow PAS on twitter/facebook where they'll be shared.

My articles written and to be released will cover:

Keyword Research and Choice: The most neglected and most important part of SEO.
Outbound Affiliate Links: Don't get penalized for your affiliate links!
Content Direction: How to find less competitive demographics in the poker space that will convert.

In writing these articles, I'm [unbeknownst to you] looking at your affiliate sites for areas of improvement. So please ask questions, as other affiliates are bound to have the same problems you are, and I'll be happy to give advice and/or turn it into an article for you.

    Thanks guys!

@Stanly: the next article is something that will help your site: work on the outbound affiliate links. Here are some other quick tips for your site:
    1. Add canonical tags to every page. This should be available in your wordpress plugin "all in one seo". If it isn't, update the module. The canonical url should be the url for the page.
    2. Your redirect from "pokerspravy.sk" to "www.pokerspravy.sk" is using a 302 instead of a 301 redirect. Easy fix.
    3. Enable this plugin on wordpress to speed up your site.

    Hi John

My question is about SEO Meta Keywords in the PAS CMS. Should I be listing all words/phrases one after the other or should I be using commas or quotation marks to separate each keyword/phrase?

Right now I just list every keyword with just spaces to separate them. Should I using commas / quotes?

Don't even bother with the Meta Keywords: they aren't used by any of the search engines. Google's position. Yahoo. Bing says to fill it out even though it doesn't do hardly anything at all.

If you really want to use them, separate the keywords with commas: <meta name="Keywords" content="poker, rakeback, best rakeback available">

(Also, your site really needs unique content)

    Welcome!

I think your site offers a great starting point: you have unique content and a desired product, a clean design, but the SEO could use some work. This is a good read to start learning SEO.

    1) KEYWORD RESEARCH! If someone is searching for "poker software", the computer looks for sites that have the words "poker software" in the Title/Description/H1/content/etc. But your site doesn't have those words almost anywhere! Use the words you want to rank for liberally, but you don't have to spam them. Go to Google's Keyword tool and see what people are looking for. "poker analysis software" and "poker training software" jump out at me right away, and there looks like there's a lot more.

    2) Use the keywords you found on your pages. For example, here's a Mansion Poker review. The keyword targeted is "mansion poker review", and it's in the Title, Description, URL, Breadcrumbs, etc.

    3) Add a canonical tag in your head, as you have duplicate content problems which splits ranking between several URLs.

    4) Add a 301 redirect from addresses like "http://holygrailofpoker.com" to "http://www.holygrailofpoker.com"

    5) Apply to the DMOZ! This gains a highly valuable backlink if approved. This category looks like the best one for your site.

That should keep you busy for awhile! Come back and ask more questions if you run into problems and when you complete it.
