We are very happy to announce that the first release of the PAS v3 API is now ready to enter a public beta period! This long awaited refresh to the API is here and we think that you're going to be quite pleased with the massive improvements & feature additions that have been made. You'll find the new API to be more powerful, standardized, and much easier to use - all of which should make for a substantially more enjoyable experience when working with our systems via a remote website or integration!
What is the status of the v3 API?
We have done substantial internal testing and we believe that it is ready for production use. It is possible that there could potentially be a few more bugs lurking around, but at this point we are confident that it is ready for production use. Internally we have already begun implementing it into several production environments and thus far we've had no problems. Should you encounter any issues or have any questions/suggestions please let us know!
What can I do with the v3 API?
A whole lot is possible with the new API - we have provided the tools for you to be able to do things like...
The possibilities are really endless; the open structure of our API gives you the ability and control to have a truly customized implementation that suits your needs.
- Forum Integrations: Allow your users to have a single username & password
- User Integrations: Setup your own user login system or subscription-based website or service
- Use Your own Server: No longer be required to use our CMS or web hosting
- Add Signup Forms to ANY website or application that you control
Where is the v3 API Documentation located?
The final documentation will be located within our main v3 Documentation although right now the best resource for usage of the v3 API-related functionality can be found within this thread: PAS v3 API Usage Overview
Due to this being a 'beta' release we have not quite had enough time to get everything documented and put online. Our goal is to have all of the current v3 API features (those being released today) documented by the end of next week. We'll continue to post updates here and as always we're more than willing to assist with any questions you may have related to the API and it's functionality.
How do I use it?
The PAS v3 API is based upon a very structured 'RESTful' approach which makes using it fairly straightforward if you have a bit of programming or technical experience. We have also created and released a PHP API Wrapper class (also in 'beta') which is designed to make interacting with API even easier; we encourage you to check it out, it's one of the easiest ways to get started right away!
