Only two weeks after a $1 million Bad Beat Jackpot was hit on the Merge Gaming Network, Boss Media's own Bad Beat Jackpot has eclipsed the $1 million mark (777,000 in euros). This is the first time the jackpot prize has reached $1 million since a record $1.8 million prize went off last July. In order to eligible for a Bad Beat Jackpot hand, a player must be seated at specially designated Bad Beat Jackpot No Limit and Fixed Limit tables. To trigger a jackpot prize a player must lose with Quad Tens, a relatively difficult jackpot to hit compared to bad beat jackpots on other sites, which is part of the reason the network has had two $1 million dollar jackpots six months apart from each. Jackpots that reach such high levels are of particular interest to recreational and value-minded players alike. Recreational player tend to gravitate towards the games of hoping to grab that big score, much in the way lottery sales go up for big prizes. What many value-minded players realize, which escapes certain recreational players, is that the value of playing these tables has a positive expectation when they reach into the hundreds of thousands of dollars, albeit with very high variance. With that in mind and the fact everyone likes the thought of a big score, consider promoting this Bad Beat Jackpot prize in your February marketing efforts. Let's take a look at some of the internet's largest current Bad Beat Jackpots: Boss Media: $1,011,050 (Quad Tens) Winning Poker: $520,970 (Quad Sevens) Microgaming: $421,000 (Quad Eights) Merge Gaming: $104,000 (Quad Sevens) Party Poker: $101,605 (Quad Eights)
Congratulations to the winners of the largest Bad Beat Jackpot in the history of online poker, which hit the record breaking prize at 8:59 GMT this morning while the jackpot sat at €1,265,583.34 ($1,834,426), a progressive prize that was months in the making. OmgoMgomGo, a PokerHeaven player, lost the hand with Quad Kings and took home a shade over €442,000. The winner of the hand, 7Adelaida7, held Quad Aces and netted €221,477. The seven other players dealt cards wont go home disappointed either, as they each scored a €31,639 prize. OmgoMgomGo held held pocket Kings while 7Adelaida7 held pocket Aces. The Bad Beat Jackpot hand flopped the As 9H Kc giving each player a set. The turn card then came the Ks and the river the Ac to give each player Quads, which met the minimum requirement of Quad Tens. With 20% of the total jackpot being held over to reseed the next jackpot, the jackpot now sits just over €250,000. If the player that lost the hand was signed up by an affiliate, the affiliate could also win a prize of €10,000, assuming they advertised the Bad Beat Jackpot as outlined by the Boss Media Bad Beat Jackpot affiliate promotion. If an affiliate referred the winning player of the hand, they would win €5,000. Referring one of the seven to receive a table share prize would net the affiliate €500. Affiliates will be notified shortly if one of their players was lucky enough to take home part of this record breaking prize. The Boss Media Bad Beat Jackpot should grow quickly and be a positive value for players again shortly. Do not forget to pay attention to this and all bad beat jackpots to find the best value for your players. We've have spent a lot of time over the last few weeks focusing on the huge Bad Beat Jackpot on the Boss Network, but there has also been a large Bad Beat Jackpot brewing on Merge Gaming Network as well. On Thursday night as the Merge Gaming Bad Beat Jackpot sat at a shade over $817,000, it was finally hit at a No Limit Hold'em table. One player held pocket Queens while another held pocket Tens. After a flop of Q 6 T, both held a set. The turn came the remaining Ten and the river delivered the final Queen. Vigtastical, the "loser" of the hand pocketed $286,000, while Jap1234, the winner, came home with $143,038. The remaining players in the hand split just over $28,607. The next jackpot was seeded with a prize pool of $163,000 and continues to grow again. After weeks of climbing, it was beginning to seem like these jackpots would never be hit. Of course, they will eventually will go off. In fact, the more attention these jackpots get, the more participation the games will receive, increasing the chances of a Bad Beat hand being dealt. Affiliates can promote these Bad Beat Jackpots and tout the value that they present to players when they reach stratospheric levels such as the Merge Jackpot that was just hit and the Boss Network Bad Beat Jackpot that is currently sitting at €1.142 million. Remember: PAS affiliates are given extra incentive to promote these offers through special affiliate promotions at Boss and Carbon. Don't think Bad Beat Jackpots are worth promoting? Think again. We've even created special promotional materials for the Boss Bad Beat Jackpot.
The Boss Network Bad Beat Jackpot promotion has eclipsed the €1 million mark ($1.43 million) and is now into record territory. The prospect of winning a huge prize is bringing many players to the Bad Beat Jackpot tables on the Boss Network. Affiliates should be aggressively marketing this jackpot until it is hit, not only because of the record prize but also because the current jackpot levels easily reach the positive expected value mark – which is generally in the €300k-€500k range. This simply means that the Bad Beat Jackpot prize amount is past a point at which the extra €0.50 jackpot drops are not worth the prize that players can earn -- from a value perspective --when considering the odds of hitting the jackpot and other factors. Affiliate Incentives PAS partner rooms Fortune Poker, Poker Heaven and Interpoker are giving affiliates even more reason to heavily promote the offer. If one of your players wins, loses or is even dealt cards on the same table where the Jackpot is hit, as an affiliate you will receive the following prizes: Winner of the Jackpot: €10,000 affiliate reward Loser of the Jackpot: €5,000 affiliate reward Dealt cards: €500 affiliate reward To be eligible for the prize, you will need to complete ALL of the following requirements: --Have a Bad Beat Jackpot story on the home page --Have a BBJ widget on the front page or a leading sub-section. Widget is here: . --We have also created a banner that affiliates can use as they wish. --Send out a mailer to your playerbase When the Bad Beat Jackpot is hit, the site will notify the winning players and any affiliate who has won a bonus prize. Terms of the Bad Beat Jackpot Prize: Hitting a Bad Beat Jackpot is not easy and is one reason why the prize pool is so high right now. If you are a Merge Gaming player or affiliate, you may know that Carbon Poker and the rest of the Merge Gaming Network run a popular Bad Beat Jackpot at special “Bad Beat” tables on the site. These games represent much of the action at the No Limit and Limit Hold’em tables at the $0.50/$1.00-$5/$10 limits. The progressive jackpot at these tables awards a jackpot prize that is frequently in the hundreds of thousands of dollars -- a $1.2 million jackpot was awarded in early 2009 alone. Affiliates also have the potential to get in on the action. Carbon Poker, through their Bad Beat Jackpot promotion, will award the referrer of the losing player with 1.5% of the jackpot prize as an incentive to promote Carbon Poker. To qualify, affiliates must opt-in to the program by placing a banner on their main page or on a Carbon Poker review page, and then contact Atil from Carbon Poker letting him know they are opting in. A $450,000 Jackpot is Hit On the night of Thursday January 20th, the Merge Gaming Bad Beat Jackpot was hovering over $460,000, a point well above the +EV mark where the large jackpot prize is worth the $0.50 Jackpot drop. This is strictly from a BBJ value standpoint -- some players may argue that juicer games always make the games +EV compared to regular tables. Anyway, on 18:08:18 ET that night, hand 31033581-477 was dealt on a $1/$2 NLHE Bad Beat Jackpot table. Player 1 held 6s5s Player 2 held 7h7d After a flop of 3s, 7c, 4s, the final cards came the 7 of Spades and a K of Clubs. Player 1’s straight flush beat Player 2’s Quad Sevens, triggering the $462,000 Bad Beat Jackpot. A jackpot prize of $162,000 was awarded to the “loser” of the hand, while just over $81,000 was awarded to the winner of the hand. The other three players who were dealt cards at the table split another $81,000. The remaining 30% of the Jackpot was used to reseed the next jackpot (20%) and as an admin fee to Merge Gaming (10%). The affiliate who referred the player who lost the hand was eligible for 1.5% of the prize, a shade over $6,900. Congrats to RakeTracker Player JhonB75 Why am I telling you this? Well, beyond demonstrating my captivating writing skills, the player who lost this particular hand – and won the $162,000 jackpot prize happened to be a player from Rake Tracker, Poker Affiliate Solutions’ retail rakeback site! Whoo-Hoo! The RakeTracker player was JhonB75, and is now living the dream of any player who has ever sat down at a Bad Beat Jackpot table. A big congrats to you, Jhon875! With Jhon875’s epic score, RakeTracker would also be eligible for $6,900 as part of the Carbon Poker BBJ Affiliate promotion. Unfortunately, we did not opt-in to this program. Yes, by not participating, we lost out on a $6,900 payday. Frankly, I don’t even know exactly why we didn’t opt-in to the program. Personally, I very vaguely remember hearing about the program somewhere, and I’m sure others on staff knew about it in various capacities as well. It only really registered though once I heard about the hit. Probably, like many players who look at Bad Beat Jackpots, you indirectly assume you’re never going to be a part of a Bad Beat Jackpot table. I have played millions of hands online and I’m certain I would have never qualified for one even if I was sitting at a BBJ table. It kind of feels like the odds of being involved in such a score might be slightly better than TimPAS winning American Idol, me becoming a UFC fighter or Tony’s Cowboys winning another Super Bowl. Despite what are still very longshot odds, it obviously does happen. We are evidence of that, unfortunately. The question actually should be "why not do it?" Space is certainly a consideration, but Carbon Poker does not require you to place the banner on your main page (although I’m sure they would welcome and appreciate that), just anywhere on the Carbon Poker review page, even at the bottom of the page, if necessary. So unless you have a never ending Carbon Poker review -- both vertically and horizontally -- you have space. For the cost of the work it takes to put up the banner and contact Carbon (who are very, very good to work with), you have some passive -- albeit with long shot odds -- income possibilities. Needless to say, we have set in motion the process of adding this banner to Rake Tracker. If lightning strikes twice, we will be there to pocket the lucrative prize. Don’t Do What We Did: Opt-In to the Carbon Poker Jackpot Promotion To qualify for this promotion, affiliates must have a Carbon Poker BBJ banner on their home page or on their Carbon Poker review page. Players can participate in this promotion by emailing support@chipsplit.com with BAD BEAT in the subject line. Make sure to include the URL where your Carbon Poker Bad Beat Jackpot banner is posted. To get everyone excited about this promotion or just to give us hell for our $6900 non-prize, please check out the Carbon Poker forum thread on the subject. Hopefully, my next blog post on this topic will be about how Rake Tracker or one of our fine publishers took home a huge prize. Good luck, everyone!
