Entraction will ban players from five countries effective September 29, 2011. These countries are Canada, Russia, Norway, Israel and Turkey. While we have not received a comment from the network our representative at Noiq Poker has confirmed that this is true.
Recently Entraction was acquired by International Game Technology, a US based slot machine manufacturer. I speculated that IGT is trying to distance themselves from any questionably legal situations in anticipation of future US online poker regulations. IGT likely bought Entraction in order to diversify their holdings but also had regulated US online poker in the back of their minds. By only accepting players where there are regulations in place allowing it, IGT does not have to worry about there being problems down the road when applying for a license in the U.S.
We will continue to follow this story and post more news as we acquire it.
