Customizing Meta Tags for your Site

Including meta tags on your site, and for each page on your site, is an important part of optimizing your site for SEO purposes. In the PAS CMS, there are two ways to do this: sitewide and on the page level.

Sitewide SEO Settings

In the CMS, you’ll see a button for ‘Default SEO Settings’. These are the sitewide SEO settings for your site. They may be overridden on a page-by-page basis depending on your settings for a given page.

Edit the default title, keyword, and description fields to optimize your search engine results.

Save your new tags by clicking on ‘Update SEO Defaults’.

Individual Page SEO Settings

Select a page within the CMS and click on ‘SEO Options’.

This will open up an option to edit the same settings as above. So edit your page title, keywords, and description here. Click ‘Save Page’ to save your settings.

Tips

  • Give each page of your site a title that represents the content of that page.
  • Try to use keywords that match actual words in the text of each page.
  • Use keywords that match the page title.
  • Focus your SEO efforts on pages that do NOT require users to be logged in.
  • Add additional content to outer pages to match keywords.
  • Use keywords that highlight the novel or unusual features of your site.
  • Use keywords that match what you think a potential player might search for.
